I started my training as a Remedial Gymnast & Recreational Therapist at Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield in 1972 and graduated from there in 1974 going on to work in South Wales in Cardiff and Newport hospitals before moving to Northumberland to work in the Miners Rehabilitation Centre at Bedlington.
In 1986 when the Society of Remedial Gymnasts merged with the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy I took additional training to become a Chartered Physiotherapist.
After working in the Health Service I took the opportunity to move into private practice initially working with Mike Varney, the then Physiotherapist to Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, in his private clinic. Later I set up and managed the Physiotherapy department for Holly House Hospital. For 10 years I set up and ran a private physiotherapy clinic at Beckingham Court Tolleshunt Major.
In 2008 I decided to set up my own private practice in Maldon Essex which currently operates from premises within the Kings Head Centre.
An opportunity arose in 2013 for me to purchase the Burnham-on-Crouch Physiotherapy and Sports Injury Clinic which has been established for over 25 years. This now enables me to offer appointments every day of the week in Maldon or Burnham-on-Crouch.
Like all Chartered Physiotherapists I am constantly updating my knowledge by attending courses and seminars.
I have worked in the sports field with both amateur and professional footballers, ice skaters (one competed in the Olympics for Great Britain), American football and volleyball teams (including one that competed in Europe). For the last 15 years I have been involved in ice hockey as the team physiotherapist – 3 seasons with Chelmsford Chieftains and for the last 12 years have been the consultant and bench physiotherapist for Romford, now London, Raiders ice hockey team.
